Our leadership structure reflects accountability and collaboration. From strategy and operations to training, advocacy, and membership, every role is designed to ensure that YDN remains focused on its mission: preparing young adults to become responsible leaders in their communities.

Ps. Serge Kagabo (Nkomezi)

I am deeply passionate about YDN’s mission because I believe in the power of young people to shape a better future for themselves and their communities. As President and Mentor, I am committed to guiding, supporting, and empowering the next generation of leaders through mentorship, advocacy, and hands-on leadership development. My goal is to help young adults discover their potential, build confidence, and create opportunities that lead to meaningful transformation. Through YDN, I dedicate my time, experience, and vision to fostering a movement where young people are not just prepared for the future but equipped to lead it.

Fiston Mututsi

I am passionate about YDN’s mission because I believe in the power of young people to transform their lives, their communities, and the world. As Executive Director, I am committed to building a movement that equips young adults with the skills, opportunities, and confidence to lead with purpose and create lasting impact. My journey has been shaped by lived experiences, resilience, and a deep desire to see young people rise above challenges and become agents of change. Through YDN, I dedicate my vision, leadership, and passion to empowering a generation prepared not only to face the future but to shape it.

Esperance Ikora

​As Deputy Director of YDN, I am deeply committed to supporting the vision of empowering young people to lead, grow, and create change in their communities. I believe that every young adult carries untapped potential, and through YDN’s programs, we are building pathways for leadership, education, and personal transformation. My role focuses on guiding our organizational strategies, coordinating programs, and mentoring youth leaders to help them gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed. Working alongside a passionate team, I strive to ensure that YDN remains a platform where young people can unlock opportunities and take bold steps toward shaping a better future.

Secretary General

Angel Ibaruta

As Secretary General of YDN, I am committed to ensuring that our vision, mission, and strategies are translated into organized action and measurable impact. My role involves managing communication across all committees, maintaining organizational records, and supporting the leadership team to deliver on YDN’s goals. I work closely with members, partners, and stakeholders to ensure smooth coordination and efficient operations within the organization.

I believe in the power of young people to transform their communities when given the right tools, guidance, and opportunities. Through YDN, I am dedicated to creating an environment where youth can develop their leadership skills, gain knowledge, and work collectively toward building stronger, more resilient communities.

Finance Chair

Mwiza Esperance

As Finance Chair of YDN, I am responsible for overseeing the organization’s financial planning, budgeting, and resource management to ensure we operate effectively and sustainably. My role involves tracking income and expenses, preparing financial reports, and working closely with the executive team to align our resources with YDN’s vision and strategic objectives.

I am passionate about building financial systems that support youth-driven initiatives, ensuring transparency and accountability in every decision. Through YDN, I strive to create opportunities that provide young leaders with access to the tools, funding, and support they need to transform their communities and build a better future.

Mrs. Roberta Bell

As the Programs & Training Chair of YDN, I lead the development, coordination, and evaluation of all training programs and capacity-building initiatives. My role focuses on designing impactful workshops, leadership trainings, and mentorship opportunities that equip young adults with the skills and confidence needed to thrive as changemakers in their communities.

I work closely with the executive team and committee chairs to ensure our programs align with YDN’s mission of empowering youth through education, advocacy, and personal development. By creating spaces for learning and collaboration, I strive to inspire participants to discover their potential, take bold action, and contribute to lasting transformation.

Mrs. Roberta Bell

As the Advocacy & Policy Chair at YDN, I lead efforts to amplify youth voices, influence decision-makers, and shape policies that affect our communities. My role focuses on designing campaigns, training youth in civic engagement, and building strategic partnerships with organizations and government leaders to advance equity, opportunity, and justice.

Working alongside young changemakers, I help mobilize advocacy rooted in lived experience and bold vision. From local organizing to national policy engagement, I ensure our network is prepared, informed, and united in its mission to drive meaningful change.

As Communications Chair of YDN, I lead the organization’s communication strategy to ensure our vision, programs, and impact are effectively shared with members, partners, and the broader community. My work focuses on strengthening YDN’s voice through storytelling, digital engagement, media outreach, and strategic messaging.

I collaborate with the executive team and program chairs to craft communications that highlight our initiatives, amplify youth voices, and build public awareness.
