What do YDN programs include?

YDN programs are designed to help young people grow as leaders, advocates, and community changemakers. Each program blends practical training with personal growth. Sessions often include:
-
Workshops led by experienced trainers and mentors.
-
Skill-building activities in leadership, communication, advocacy, and problem-solving.
-
Storytelling and reflection, giving participants space to share their own experiences.
-
Networking opportunities with peers, mentors, and community leaders.
-
Hands-on practice through group projects, role plays, or advocacy exercises.

Our goal is not just to provide information, but to create an environment where you practice leadership, discover your voice, and gain tools you can use immediately.
When and where do events happen?

-
In-person programs: These are hosted in different cities depending on the event (such as leadership conferences, advocacy trips, or community gatherings). Venues are chosen to be youth-friendly, accessible, and professional.
-
Online programs: YDN also runs virtual workshops and trainings, making it possible for young people to join from anywhere. These are run through Zoom or other online platforms.

Event dates and times are always posted on the Events Page of our website. Once registered, you'll also receive an email confirmation with full details, including schedule, location, and preparation instructions.
What should I bring or prepare?

-
For in-person programs: Bring a notebook, pen, and anything listed in your registration email. Dress is usually casual but professional, wear something comfortable that still shows you're ready to engage.
-
For online programs: Make sure you have a stable internet connection, a quiet place to focus, and your camera on if possible. Participation is just as important as in-person events.
-
Mindset: Come ready to learn, contribute, and meet new people. YDN programs are interactive, not just lectures.

Do participants receive recognition?
Yes. Recognition is an important part of YDN's commitment to building confidence and responsibility in young leaders. Depending on the program, you may receive:
-
Certificates of Completion for major trainings.
-
Acknowledgment in YDN publications (such as newsletters or website highlights).
-
Graduation Recognition: Participants who attend all five required training conferences receive formal graduation as part of YDN's Leadership Training Track.
Graduates are celebrated not only for finishing but also for the commitment to growth and responsibility they carry back to their communities.
What happens after the program?
Your journey with YDN doesn't end when the training session closes. After the program, you will:
-
Be added to the YDN Network, where you can stay connected with peers and mentors.
-
Receive invitations to future events, advanced trainings, and advocacy opportunities.
-
Be eligible to apply for leadership roles in YDN committees, helping guide the organization itself.
